Introduction




What makes up my monthly charges?

All of the Oculu plans’ billing cycle are based on the calendar month.  For your first month of service, Oculu will automatically prorate your initial charge based on the number of days that remain in the calendar month you sign up.  This includes service for the day that you join.

What happens if I exceed the video plays and / or storage available in my plan?

Each plan comes with a specified limit for the number of monthly video plays and storage available. If you exceed these monthly amounts, you will be charged $7.00 for each additional 1,000 video plays and $1.00 for each additional 1 GB of storage.

Do I get a 15 day free trial if I upgrade?

If you upgrade from a free account to a pay account you are not eligible for the 15 day free trial. The 15 day free trial on paying plans only applies if you sign up for a paying plan now. You can always downgrade later if you choose.

Which plan is right for me?

There are 5  different Oculu pricing options to fit your needs.   The best plan for you depends on the number of video plays that will be viewed by your audience.  For help on deciding which plan is best for you, contact us at 888 966 2858 and speak with one of our Online Video Specialists .  We’ll be happy to assist you in selecting the plan that best meets your needs.

Can I start with the Basic or Basic + package and upgrade later?

Yes.  You can start with Basic or Basic + and upgrade at any time.  Your videos, players and analytics history will be available in your upgraded account and the players already published to the web will continue to work seamlessly.

How do I purchase the Oculu Basic package?

If you have a trial account, you can convert it to a standard paid account at any time. To upgrade your plan, click the Upgrade button from within your “My Account” tab on your Oculu dashboard.  Select your new plan, confirm your payment information, and confirm your upgrade. As a trial account user, you can click a button on the upgrade page to select the plan that’s right for you, or you can always contact Oculu Sales at 888 966 2858 if you’re interested in a Premium or Enterprise edition account and/or have additioanl questions.

Does Oculu charge storage costs for my videos?

Each plan comes with an allotted amount of storage space.  If you exceed the storage space allocated with your plan, you can purchase additional storage at $1.00 per Gigabyte.

Do I have to sign up for an Oculu account to upload my videos?

Yes. Since videos are attached to your account profile, you must sign-up to upload videos.  If you sign up for the free 15 day trial, we do not require a credit card to begin with.

How do I update information associated with my account?

You can log in to your account at anytime and change the following: contact name, company name, billing information, email address and password.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel at anytime by sending an email to us at YoOculu@oculu.com.  Your account will canceled and we will send you an email letting you know.  If you decide to activate your account again, send us another email or call us at 888 966-2858. If you cancel a paying plan within 15 days of signing up you won’t be charged a thing. If you do choose to cancel your account in the future you will never be charged again, but you are responsible for charges already incurred up until your cancellation.

How do I convert from a trial package?

What are your hours?

We are here “officially” from 8am to 6pm PST. However, you can generally reach one of us at all times. Simply send in an Inquiry and request an account manager and you will receive a dedicated person.

My screencapture files will not encode on Oculu?

Most likely your source file is saved with the screencapture codec, you must save the file using one of our accepted codecs. For example, WMV Compresssor=Windows Media.

What is a video codec?

Compressor-Decompressor. A codec is the method used to store video data in an efficient, however lossy, manner. Codec is often confused with the file format. For example, WMV (Windows Media) is a video file format. A WMV files can be created with one of many different codecs. Equipment and software manufactures may create custom codecs to service a specific application. The codec must be installed on every machine which saves or displays the video file. Often a custom codec may only be available for one operating system (Windows vs Linux). It is best to save your video in one of codecs and file formats recommended by Oculu.

How does Oculu’s encoding work?

Oculu encodes your video files in multiple file formats, codecs, resolutions and bit rates. This is to ensure playback via mobile and desktop devices as well as providing playback resolution options for the end viewer. Oculu revises these settings constantly to accommodate the evolving market.

Current Oculu default option formats:

If a source video file is less than 720 high, it will be encoded to 640×360 resolution only. Our video encoders “fit height” and “maintain aspect ratio,” for example a 4×3 aspect source video will be encoded as 480×360.







Getting Started




Can I change plans at anytime?

Yep! Simply click on the “Account” tab on your dashboard and you’ll see your options to upgrade or downgrade.

Do I have to sign a long term contract?

No. Oculu is a pay-as-you-go service. There are no long term contracts or commitments on your part. You simply pay month-to-month. If you cancel, you’ll be billed for the current month, but you won’t be billed again.

What are Oculu’s Enhanced Features?

Enhanced features include ad integration with Google DoubleClick for Publishers Video, 100GBs of live streaming bandwidth, access to our Upload API allowing you to have an Upload Video button on your website, Sub Accounts which allow you to create other accounts for your customers or other departments, (1) complimentary Video Spokesperson video (check www.innovatemedia.com for an example) and finally you will be assigned a dedicated account manager to help you with any and all video needs.

How does the 15 day free trial work?

Simple, just sign up for one and find out for yourself! You can contact us via phone at 888-966-2858 and via email at YoOculu@oculu.com with any questions or concerns.

What types of payment do you accept?

Currently we accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Future releases will add payment platforms from other providers including PayPal. We do not accept Purchase Orders and we cannot take an order over the phone without a credit card number.







Billing




When are payments processed?

Payments are processed on or around the 5th day of each month.  That payment will be for that month’s service.  Your first credit card charge will be prorated based upon the day that you sign up.  If you sign up for the $19. package on April 15th, you will receive a charge for $9.50 for the month of April.  If you incur an overage in any given month, the additional charge will be added to your bill the following month for the previous month’s extra video plays.  We charge a flat rate of $5.00 per 1,000 video plays over your plan allotment.
